How long should the first time charging of sony vaio VGNSR590F's battery be?
i just brought a sony vaio, model VGNSR590F and i wonder how long should i charge for the first time i heard i need to charge longer for the first time.

Usually around 6-8 hrs, you can still use it though while it is charging. It will stop charging itself when complete. You can check status is power options. Or right click on battery icon.

the first charge is the most important charge you can do. Always fully charge and discharge a laptop battery, avoid short term charges as this will start the degradation of the battery. Adjust your power settings when on battery for maximum battery life, which means sacrificing performance, you can't avoid this? running 7 or Vista you should get about 2 hours out of your standard battery , maybe a tad more if heavy duty.

What brand for a fan and psu is best for my SONY VAIO desktop?
Today I took my SONY VAIO desktop to Fry's for the 3rd time for service/repairs, because my desktop freezes and when I reformatted it it basically just made my screen go black. One of my friends WAS a computer technician and recommended me a ANTEC or OCZ power supply unit (PSU) and he doesn't know about the fan. What do you guys suggest/recommend? I have a SONY VAIO VGC-RB42G. :) thanks.

If in fact the power supply is the cause, it's an ATX style PSU. Original equipment on that model would call for a replacement somewhere in the 400-500 watt range. If you have or plan to add a high end PCI Express card, go for 600 watts just to be safe. I have switched to stocking only 1 PSU for ATX machines in my store, made by Broadway Com Corp. Model number P4-OKIA-550-RB. Its a 550w PSU with dual 12v rails, above %70 efficiency, short enough to fit just about every case I've put it in, and the price is right (retail about $35-$45 online). I've sold a bunch of them without failures. If someone needs anything more we special order it. I put this PSU in a dual core AMD computer with 2 nvidia 7600 cards in sli and 2 SATA hard drives and its been running for 2 months now without a problem. Good deal for the money. Someone else said CoolerMaster, and you mentioned Antec and OCZ. All of these are good PSU's, just more expensive. But like everything else, you get what you pay for. There is however the possibility it's not the PSU...I've many times seen an overheating CPU or a bad motherboard cause the same problem. Make sure if you get a PSU you can return it in case it's not the problem, or better yet, "borrow" a PSU from another computer for a while and try to reinstall Windows again. If it still black screens, make sure the CPU cooler isn't jam packed with dust, coming loose, or the fan isn't spinning. If after swaping the psu and checking the cpu, try pulling each card and piece of memory one by one until it stays running. If that don't work, its probably the motherboard, and good luck with that. VAIO's use a custom motherboard and are near impossible to replace with an aftermarket board (most times). And Sony will want $300-400 for a new (refurbished) one. Hope this helps. I recently bought a SONY VAIO laptop and I got so excited that I forgot I'm usually suppose to charge my electronics before turning them on. Now I'm afraid that I burned my battery life. So I'm questioning, how long does YOUR laptop or usual laptops battery life last for?

They vary.. my Mom's Vaio battery usually seems to last all day without having it plugged in. My laptop's battery lasts about 5 hrs, but it's an IBM.

I have a older Sony Vaio Desk Top and I want to add memory?
Ok i have a Sony VAIO PCV-RX560 but it only have 256mb of memory and its limit even with filling the other slot is 256 so that comes to 512. That's not near enough memory for me and speed for my computer. So what dose every one suggest that I do to make this a really fast Itunes computer what do I need to change over to get a ton of memory and speed?

Your Vaio only has 2 RAM slots. Each memory slot can hold SDRAM, PC133 with a maximum of 256MB per slot. So , aside from just getting another 256 stick, your looking at either an entire motherboard replacement, or shell out about $300 bux for an inexpensive eMachine.

How much longer before I cant do anything with my Sony VAIO PCG-K33 with 3.06GHz and 1GB RAM?
I bought a Sony VAIO PCG-K33 1GB RAM and 3GHz processor Pentium 4. It has Windows XP Home. I am wondering what i cant do with it that XP Pro can, and how much longer before it will be obsolete. **1GB was upgraded and is the max that one can take. Thanks.

It won't be obsolete until Microsoft stops issuing critical updates for it. On 8 April 2014, all Windows XP support, including security updates and security-related hotfixes will be terminated. Think of it as a tool, as long as it allows you to do things like access the Internet and email, and type documents and create spreadsheets, it won't be obsolete. But the computer hardware will not last forevever, figure it has no more than 5 years of life at most, so during that time figure out what you want your next computer to be and see what becomes available. I have Windows XP on a desktop, a laptop, and a new mini-laptop (Acer Aspire One) so I intend to use it as long a possible. I'm not a gamer, so I don't care about overclocking or other performance issues. .

When I play DVD's on my laptop the video and sound is very choppy. When my kid plays online kids games or streaming video from web sites the same thing happens. It is a Sony Vaio PIII with 933mhz and 256 meg RAM.

I guess you need to add more RAM, 512MB is good enough.

256 MB ram is not a lot. I run 2 GB ram on my newest lap top and my older one has 512 MB ram. and a DSL connection and some video and music still has some stop and start as more is down loaded but is normal.

Hi Julia, I just checked the VAIO keyboard here: http://repair4laptop.org/contrib/sony_vaio_pcg_nv190/sony_vaio_pcg_nv190_keyboard_spring_clamps.jpg It's the same as any other desktop or most laptop keyboards. The method is the same, be it a Sony VAIO, or any other computer. When you want to take a screenshot, just hold down your ALT key and press the PrtSc / Sys Rq key once. Then, click the Start menu, click Run and type the following command and then hit the Enter key: mspaint . Now, press CTRL-V when the paint program opens. Does it matter if a system restore CD says its for a dell computer desktop, when I have a sony vaio?
I have a windows xp system restore CD, but it says to use on a dell only. Is it possible to use on a sony vaio also?

Get to work on since installing Windows 7?
sony vaio laptop takes ages to boot and get to work on since installing Windows 7?
updated my vaio laptop to windows 7 from vista and have nothing but trouble since. sometimes it takes over seven minutes to get working. Also it takes an age to recognize drivers for auxiliaries on initial installation. I have reinstalled vista, then reinstalled 7 again and followed all the advice given by sony support teams but still as slow as hell to get going.

Yes and No. The Ram must be compaitable with the Sony. go to crucial.com and run the scanner program, It will tell you what Ram(TYPE) you have installed and the maxium you can install. Copare this to the Ram from your HP. If they are the same you are good to go. If not, just but some new Ram. They are very cheap now.

Perhaps. In general, laptops of the same vintage used pretty much the same type memory, but you'll want to check both your HP and Sony laptop specs to make sure they use the same type of memory. Probably DDR2 from 3-4 years ago.

Perhaps. In general, laptops of the same vintage used pretty much the same type memory, but you'll want to check both your HP and Sony laptop specs to make sure they use the same type of memory. Probably DDR2 from 3-4 years ago.

How can i connect my sony vaio laptop to internet?
how can i connect my sony vaio laptop to internet?
i have a desktop connected to inetrnet through modem and plugged in my phone line, now how can i connect my new sony vaio laptop to internet, do i need to call my service provider or i need to buy any other stuff with it.........need help. Thanks.

Hi Maryan, If your modem is a wifi enabled one then you can connect your laptop via that method. If not then contact your ISP and see if they do a wifi upgrade for your connection package.

You can hook it up yourself. You can buy a wireless router to hook the laptop up to the internet, but since you are using dialup, the connection speed will be really slow. You can also try using a wired router, with an external modem, and a wireless access point. Other options are listed on the website shown in the source field. Your internet service provider might also be able to offer some help, so contacting them is a good idea too.

You can buy .wireless router and connect it to your modem, then connect your desktop to the router. Your laptop will be connected to internet wirelessly through WIFI router.

I want a laptop and also want an internet card, i'm thinking of getting the sony vaio cause its pretty. Also, do you know if the tmobile internet card is good? :)

How do I find the Stereo Mix on my Sony VAIO VPCCW21FX?
Hello I have a Sony VAIO VPCCW21FX, and I really can't find the Stereo Mix Device, I've tried to uncheck the "Show Disabled Devices" & "Show Disconnected Devices" but nothing that shows Stereo Mix. Can someone help me how to find the Stereo Mix? Oh I have Windows 7.
