How do i recover programs from a dead sony vaio?

How do i recover programs from a dead sony vaio?
I have the memory from a dead sony vaio. Can I recover whats on the computer with the 256mbSDr? How do i do that and will a place like CompUSA do it?

im sure compusa can extract it ... see what they charge ... u can find those cheapo adapters online that will allow u to attach the harddrive from the laptop to a regular ide cable in a desktop ...

You can remove the hard drive yourself, and place it as a slave drive on another PC to retrieve the information on your Sony Vaio. Just be very careful not to destroy the harddrive.

DJ Rick is right. Remove the hard drive and either set the drive as a primary slave in another computer, or get a external hard drive kit for notebook hard drives (about $30) and install the drive into it. It converts the harddrive into an external hard drive. You connect it to a computer via USB and plug in the a/c power cord to supply power to the drive and that's all here is to it. Should take you under 5 minutes to assemble the hard drive into an external hard drive kit. CompUSA carries the kits. Good luck.
