Sony Vaio desktop (PCV-RS226)

Will the ATI Raedon HD 4650 1GB work on my Sony Vaio desktop?
Will the ATI Raedon HD 4650 1GB work on my Sony Vaio desktop (PCV-RS226) which has 512mb ram. I am also planning to upgrade the ram to 2 GB if the videocard works with my PC.

Im guessing the 4650 is PCI express, make sure you have a pci express slot. Also it may need a 6 pin power connector, so make sure (if it is) you have one hanging off your psu.

From the research i did i think i have found that it will not work. It seems your motherboard does not have a pci-e slot. This PCI-E is needed for modern video cards The review of your pc i found: http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/h486.htm this says "Expansion-wise the PCV-RS226 is a little limited, with only two free PCI slots and a CNR slot, but with integrated 10/100Mbps networking and a built-in modem, about the only thing to add would be a decent sound card, as the integrated audio controller and the supplied 3W speakers are pretty poor." it does not mention a pci-e slot. if you have to buy one get something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814139046 that will fit in your computer

You can replace the nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 with an AGP HD 4650 model if you can find a better power supply to fit your case. XFX HD-465X-ZPF2 Radeon HD 4650 1GB 128-bit DDR2 AGP 8X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150433 System Requirements Minimum Power Supply Requirement: 400 Watts Power Connector 4 Pin GIGABYTE GV-R465D2-1GI Radeon HD 4650 1GB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 8X http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125281 System Requirements Minimum 400W or greater system power supply Power Connector 6 Pin

Can my HDMI cable Connect my Sony Vaio to my Sony Bravia to watch movies?

Can my HDMI cable Connect my Sony Vaio to my Sony Bravia to watch movies?
Basically I want to watch a movie on my computer. I don't have the discs, but I do have an HDMI cable. I want to watch this movie on my 40 inch Sony Bravia. Would the HDMI cable be able to connect my Sony Vaio to my tv? Also do you know which setting I would need to go to on the tv if the answer is yes? Its also a newer model, its in the F series if that helps.

Depends on your GPU, Vaios are well known for being underpowered. Yes you would be able to connect it, however It might not be of high quality, plus the colors may not seem right

Sony Vaio TX5XN laptops

What causes my Sony Vaio screen to stay black (with just a shadowy image on the screen)?
I have 2 Sony Vaio TX5XN laptops. Machine A works perfectly, Machine B has a very dim display, i.e. the backlight or the inverter is not working. However, when I switched the two lids (screens and all) between the two machines, Machine B still had the dim display and Machine A was still fine. The external display works perfectly off the VGA socket, so it seems that the motherboard is OK. What is causing the backlight to stay off?

Machine B's screen appears to be fine - if it weren't, it would present an image when connected to machine A. It is not the complete video card that is broken, if it were, you would see anything on an external monitor. Clearly, on machine B, something on your motherboard that produces the image and connects to the lid is broken.
