Sony Vaio desktop (PCV-RS226)

Will the ATI Raedon HD 4650 1GB work on my Sony Vaio desktop?
Will the ATI Raedon HD 4650 1GB work on my Sony Vaio desktop (PCV-RS226) which has 512mb ram. I am also planning to upgrade the ram to 2 GB if the videocard works with my PC.

Im guessing the 4650 is PCI express, make sure you have a pci express slot. Also it may need a 6 pin power connector, so make sure (if it is) you have one hanging off your psu.

From the research i did i think i have found that it will not work. It seems your motherboard does not have a pci-e slot. This PCI-E is needed for modern video cards The review of your pc i found: http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/h486.htm this says "Expansion-wise the PCV-RS226 is a little limited, with only two free PCI slots and a CNR slot, but with integrated 10/100Mbps networking and a built-in modem, about the only thing to add would be a decent sound card, as the integrated audio controller and the supplied 3W speakers are pretty poor." it does not mention a pci-e slot. if you have to buy one get something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814139046 that will fit in your computer

You can replace the nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 with an AGP HD 4650 model if you can find a better power supply to fit your case.
