What is wrong with my Sony Vaio Laptop? and what is a mother board?
My Sony Vaio laptop came across a graphic problem in which blue things appeared in the scvreen and the text and colour was faded. Slowly, the laptop doesn't turn on now, i've left it with a repair shop and they say it is damaged and may need a change in a mother board? please help? wHAT DO I DO? ANY SOLUTIONS?

Check with them on the cost of replacing the motherboard for this and the cost of getting a new computer. The hard drive can be taken OUT and put into an external hard drive case to save your data, but MB's can be expensive...

So let me get this straight. You brought your laptop in to a technician who works on laptops every single day. He tells you that your motherboard is bad and needs to be replaced and now you are asking US what needs to be done? You need to have the motherboard replaced.

Screen problem and they gonna change the motherboard? might as well buy a new laptop then. your laptop's backlight maybe the problem and not the motherboard. these are common problems of laptops. check your laptop: when you press the power button do you hear something or flat dead? does the power light blink? if yes then its the screen that fails and not the motherboard. look for a different repair shop and ask them if they could fix the backlight of your laptop. i don't think this repair shop that you went to knows what they're doing. good luck!
