Sony vaio model sz220b

How do you format a Sony vaio laptop without using the discs?
I bought a used laptop, sony vaio model sz220b I was just wondering how i can completley format the computer making it like i just bought it new. Ok sorry i think i said it wrong.. i want to reformat the hard drive. Dell has this think where you push of the the "F1" buttons while its booting and it takes you to this thing that pretty much makes your computer brand new.

Come on, you at least need new a Windows CD or what are you going to put on it after it's formatted? What about applications? Have you thought this through? If not DO NOT DO IT.

If nothing is wrong with the computer, you don't need to format it. Otherwise you may have to buy the recovery discs from sony or worse get a copy of windows XP to load back on. Maybe you should go to some local pc shop and ask if they can sell you a copy of an OEM licence of XP. Some dealers will do that but I think that way, it's still a genuine licence but at least you're paying for it. Otherwise go to a flea market and see if there are genuine copies that people are selling. Remember not to buy the recovery cds, it must be a genuine stand alone copy of xp. Or buy a genuine retail box of the operating system if all else fails. BTW, couldn't you access the hidden partition? I am sure if it is the original hard drive, the OS is hidden in the partition. Check the sony website or forum on how to recover the partition.
4 :
use the vaio recovery tool in all programs in start

it really doesn't matter. any router will work. i recommend linksys routers.

If you only have the one computer , you don't need a router. Just plug directly into your modem. Linksys, Dlink, or Belkin are very reasonable and dependable. Whichever is most readily available and best price. If you are planning on wireless get a wireless modem from your provider or you can get any of the above in a wireless version.

I want to add a video card to my sony vaio?
I have a Sony Vaio RB42/G desktop. I watch and record cable tv on it using the intergrated Intel GPU, which sucks for gaming. It has up to 224MB of video memory which I probably reach on a daily basis considering that I am an avid gamer. I want to install an nVidia video card in it but I am afraid that it will disable my abilty to watch and record tv, or just completely screw my computer over. Please help me with this.

If you are watching TV on your pc you probably have a TV tuner card. Upgrading your graphics should not effect this.

How to adjust Windows 7 color on a Sony Vaio VPCEA24FM?
I just bought this Sony Vaio VPCEA24FM laptop. It is installed with Window 7. The color on the screen looks washed out and dull overall. I was able to adjust the contrast by right click on the desktop. BUT, window 7 keeps on override my settings to default every 1 or 2 hours. I wonder if anyone can help me with this problem. Thanks.

Every file present in your registry contains a command or direction for every program and application on your computer. Registry files are the files that give your computer the instructions for what to do next. If these registry files get corrupt or misplaced, your computer fails to understand what to do. In these instances, your computer loses control, eventually leading to a crash. At this stage the priority is to fix these registry files. In such situations it is suggested that you do not try to fix the registry yourself. Immediately find registry cleaner software Reginout and scan your computer to locate any errors. This software will identify all the missing entries or errors, restoring them right away. In many cases, your computer will be back to normal. It is recommended that you run this software once a month for best results.

Hi Green, Changing brightness on a computer can definitely be a bit irritating. Here's a how-to for adjusting the brightness of your computer screen: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Adjust-your-monitors-brightness-and-contrast. You may also have sun sensitive features on your new computer that automatically adjust depending on the light environment. In that case, you'll want to disable the Adaptive Brightness feature in Windows 7. To do so use the following steps: Open Power Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options. Under any plan, click Change plan settings. Click Change advanced power settings. In the list, expand Display, and then expand Enable adaptive brightness. To turn adaptive brightness on or off when your computer is running on battery power, click On battery, and then, in the list, click On or Off. To turn adaptive brightness on or off when your computer is plugged into an outlet, click Plugged in, and then, in the list, click On or Off. Click Apply. Click OK. Hope this helps!
